Minoru Precinct
Richmond Cultural Centre, Minoru Centre for Active Living, Gateway Theatre and Minoru Chapel
Richmond, BC
Richmond's Minoru Precinct is located in the heart of Richmond, BC and includes numerous civic facilities, including the Richmond Cultural Centre and Plaza, Minoru Centre for Active Living, Gateway Theatre and Minoru Chapel. All facilities are wheelchair accessible with public parking nearby.
Richmond Cultural Centre (7700 Minoru Gate)
The Richmond Cultural Centre is home to the Arts Centre, Performance Hall, Brighouse Library, Richmond Art Gallery, Richmond Museum, Archives and Media Lab. During Culture Days, many local resident art groups also open up their studios for workshops and demos throughout the Cultural Centre. The City of Richmond offers free space to community organizers and independent artists.
Minoru Centre for Active Living (7191 Granville Avenue)
The new Minoru Centre for Active Living that partially opened this spring, is an iconic 110,000 square foot facility that currently houses The Seniors Centre, and the Events Centre, which provides amenities to support the surrounding sports fields. The Seniors Centre includes a cafeteria, billiards room, wood shop, arts and movement studios, a wellness centre, multi-purpose rooms and casual seating spaces for reading, cards or socializing to support adults 55+ years in active aging.
Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Road)
Gateway Theatre is comprised of a 522-seat MainStage, a 89-seat Studio, a rehearsal room, and administration and production space. The goal of the Gateway is to enrich the quality of life in Richmond and surrounding communities by creating outstanding professional theatre and a dynamic hub for the performing arts.
Minoru Chapel (6540 Gilbert Road)
Built in 1891, the historic non-denominational Minoru Chapel was relocated to Minoru Park in 1967. While it is mainly used for weddings, filming and special events, this year it is also home to Minoru Manifesto, a community created project led by artist Julie Hammond.
