À propos

A celebration of the Scottish heritage that helped to shape Carleton Place and Lanark County, the Community Tattoo is a vibrant celebration of Celtic music and cultural tradition. Visitors can experience the stirring sound of massed pipe bands, precision drumming, and traditional Highland dancing as performers from Carleton Place and all across Ontario come together for this long-standing community tradition.

The event features performances by many talented groups including the R.C.M.P. Pipe Band & Dancers, Ottawa Caledonian Pipes and Drums, Sons of Scotland Pipe Band, Rosemary Breman Highland Dancers, and more. Similar in spirit to a Celtic festival or traditional Highland gathering, the Tattoo showcases the sights, sounds, and pageantry of Scottish culture while offering a unique opportunity to experience an important part of the region's heritage. Whether you're a lifelong enthusiast or experiencing these traditions for the first time, the Community Tattoo offers a memorable cultural experience that connects visitors with an important part of the region's heritage. The 2026 Community Tattoo is especially significant as it is dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Legion, honouring a century of service, remembrance, and community leadership.

Organisateur

The Royal Canadian Legion - Tattoo Committee

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 192 (Capt. A. Roy Brown Branch) has been a cornerstone of Carleton Place since 1931. The legion's presence has been consistently supported remembrance, service, and local heritage while remaining active year-round through community events, ceremonies, and volunteer initiatives. With deep ties to both national military history and local stories, like notable flying ace Captain A. Roy Brown, the legacy of Evelyn Wilson, and the branch’s long-standing Ladies Auxiliary, it plays an ongoing role in preserving and sharing community identity. That focus on remembrance, storytelling, and intergenerational connection aligns strongly with Ontario Culture Days and the spirit of a community tattoo, where cultural expression, heritage, and collective memory come together in a shared public experience.
