À propos
The Ryga Arts Festival is a 5 day event in the heart of the South Okanagan: Summerland, BC. Inspired by the writings of renowned Canadian playwright George Ryga, the festival aims to advocate for social justice through the arts in the genres of music, theatre and words.
As George Ryga was of Ukrainian descent, this year we are focused on the theme of Ukraine, with author readings of folk tales, theatrical performances and music. We hope to help fundraise as part of these themed events in order to support the Ukrainian people.
We will also have a return of favourite local events such as Theatre Trail, a "tour" of 5 10-minute plays that take place in downtown Summerland, a special performance by the Ryga Brothers (George Ryga's sons), and a number of workshops and activities to participate in.
Please join us and celebrate the legacy of George Ryga's work, Ukrainian culture, local events and this beautiful region we call home!
The festival begins on September 20th, 2023 and ends on Sunday September 24th, 2023

Ryga Festival Society
The Ryga Arts Festival is run by a general manager and a volunteer board of directors under the society name, the Ryga Festival Society, which is a registered charity.
Our mandate is to advocate for social justice through the arts, as inspired by the works of George Ryga.
In 2023, we initiated a series of off-season events featuring local spoken word artists and musicians in various wineries and breweries around town as a way to help promote the festival and support the talent that resides right here in our own backyard.
