À propos

Get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Oakville Symphony!

Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of an orchestra? Now’s your chance to find out! Join us for a special event where you’ll see how our more than 60 members get ready to perform impressive music without any amplification.

At this event, you'll watch an open rehearsal and hear from our Music Director, Lorenzo Guggenheim. He'll explain how Beethoven's famous Symphony No. 5 was created, including that recognizable "DA DA DA DAAAA" part that everyone knows. You'll learn how Beethoven built a journey from despair to absolute joy through music and listen to the full performance (35 minutes) at the end of the event.

And guess what? You can ask us anything you want about orchestras or whatever else you’re curious about! Don’t miss this unique peek into the world of symphonmusic and the musicians of your local orchestra.

Organisateur

Oakville Symphony

The Oakville Symphony, founded in 1967, is a thriving orchestra which enriches our community's culture by bringing the inspirational experience of music to its musicians and audience of all ages.

The orchestra performs 10 times per year at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Subscribers have access to many benefits. Students and Young Adults can also enjoy discounted tickets.

There’s something for everyone to enjoy at the OS shows but for some, there are misconceptions that linger. The Oakville Symphony wants to dispel these misconceptions:

• You don’t need any prior music knowledge to enjoy their shows. The Oakville Symphony play a wide range of music from renowned contemporary composers in addition to a classical repertoire.

• Every seat in their intimate, smaller-sized venue, The Oakville Centre, has a great view of the stage.

• If you’re concerned about being distracted, don’t be. Each show is presented in two halves, each 40 minutes long, with a short intermission to stretch your legs, grab another drink or check your phone.

• As for a dress code, come as you are. Saturday evenings can be semi-formal for some and Sunday matinee shows can be more casual, but there are no rules.
