On Tuesday September 30th, the Art Gallery of Algoma invites you to join us for “Indigenous Voices” on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Join us at 2:00pm in Gallery 1 for 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 & 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗔𝗻 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗸𝘄𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲

by Rose Cameron PhD, Associate Professor, Algoma University. This talk is about Rose’s experience attending Residential School and the impact it had on her future.

Introduction by Judy Syrette, an Elder from Batchewana First Nation and retired professor of Algoma University.

Drop in for an open studio session with Indigenous artist Lucia Laford from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, where you can engage in artmaking in a welcoming, hands-on environment.

At 5:30 PM, stay for a presentation by Lucia Laford titled "𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗔𝗿𝘁". She will explore how Indigenous art serves as a powerful tool for truth and reconciliation, highlighting the significance of both historical and contemporary Indigenous artists in shaping understanding and dialogue across Canada.

Join us as we honour Indigenous voices and histories—through storytelling and art.
