À propos
As immigrants, the feelings of being suspended in between cultures and identities are common and frustrating. Something about us gets lost when we speak our second language; our inner self is hidden...
In this 6-hour-long mask-making workshop, we will dive into an introspective state to remember what makes us unique and special, regardless of our language, without judgement, but with compassion and joy! We will build masks that capture these traits, using repurposed, found, and recycled materials. By the end, we will hold a beautiful piece of art that portraits our soul's essence.
The Essence Mask Workshop will be held in two sessions: one from 5 PM to 8 PM on September 26th and another from 10 AM to 1 PM on September 27th.
Additional information:
Bienvenidxs! This workshop will be available both in English and Spanish.
Get messy: Wearing clothes for crafting or bringing an apron is highly recommended.
Take a break: Take a breather whenever you need.
Get cozy: There will be light snacks, coffee and tea, and fidget gadgets available. Feel free to bring yours too!
Stay healthy: we'll have COVID 19 masks and hand sanitizer on site.

Lore Andrea - BC Culture Days Ambassador
Hi! I am a Chilean professional theatre practitioner who moved to Victoria four years ago. My work involves creating original pieces, acting, directing, and building for theatre! I'm the founder of Plastik Theatrik, a physical theatre company that combines existentialism with surreal images and clowning.
I've always utilized repurposed and found materials for my creations, as it is not only a budget-friendly option but also a beautiful way to give a second life to objects that would harm the environment otherwise.
I believe in finding the playfulness and magic in every project as a way to promote a healthy practice.
