À propos
Join local songleader Sylvia Humble and friends for an informal, fun community singing event, and experience the joy and connection of singing in harmony, imperfectly, with others who love to sing!
We’ll sing a diversity of uplifting pop songs from The Beatles to Great Big Sea, world music, sea shanties, call-and-response and harmony-rich layer songs, incorporating actions and simple body percussion, for those who like to move while they sing. Lyrics and simple harmony instruction are provided, with lots of room for creativity. Many of the songs are short and easy to learn, in the oral tradition (without paper).
Please bring a chair if you’d like, and a drink to stay hydrated. There is ample room under the picnic shelter, but please dress for the weather in case of wind or rain. Optional donations are welcome.
Part of the worldwide Ubuntu Choir Network which shares the belief that singing is a universal human birthright, Sylvia creates a joyful, inclusive and encouraging space for all voices, regardless of age, experience or perceived talent.

Organisateur
Sylvia Humble
Sylvia Humble is a singer-songwriter and song leader from Nanoose Bay, who is passionate about community singing. She envisions a world where everyone feels free to sing for the pure joy of it, regardless of talent.
With vocal harmony deeply rooted through classical training, choirs and folk bands from her youth, Sylvia recently left her government career to return to her passion for singing. In 2021, she founded Sing Again community choir in Nanoose Bay, an informal harmony-singing group open to all voices, which has grown to serve Parksville and Nanaimo. In her choir, she is deeply fulfilled to see people come out of their shell, find self-expression, develop skills and confidence, and make meaningful social connections.
Sylvia also hosts community singing events and workshops, offers custom singalong events, and performs at local festivals and markets, sharing her gift of song and engaging audience participation.
Sylvia shares harmony tutorials, performances, original songs, and community singalong moments on her YouTube channel which has over a thousand subscribers from around the world.
