À propos

Local artists Katherine Sunita and Melissa Parkins led the community in painting wooden honeycomb shapes, infusing them with unique designs inspired by gardens and pollinators. These completed honeycombs are now being assembled to form a vibrant mural at the St. Catharines Public Library during Culture Days.

The mural will incorporate an innovative interactive element, inviting the community to actively participate in the artwork’s ongoing evolution. Community members will have the opportunity to interchange honeycombs, conjuring fresh iterations of the mural that reflect their own creative spirit.

About the Artists:

Katherine Sunita

Katherine is a multi-faceted creator, inspiring artists in training at Hobby Shop Saint Kitts. Her gallery on the east end of St. Paul, is an all-ages cultural hub where artful experiences and community innovation come together. Katherine loves creating works of art that heals, as a nature lover and multimedia specialist, engaging the community to express our diverse light through happily making art, planting seeds, tending trees in the garden, and gathering honey together.

Melissa Parkins

Melisa is an advocate for sustainable living and owner of {pocket}CHANGE Gifts + Goods. Her shop, located in downtown St. Catharines, inspires others to make mindful choices while contributing to a more sustainable future. Melisa is committed to partnering with local businesses who build community through creative, shared experiences like this community mural, “Tending the Bee-u-tiful Garden City.”
