Experience the City of St. Catharines’ 17th Annual Juried Exhibition, Current, on display at City Hall throughout Culture Days. This thought-provoking exhibition brings together a diverse range of artists from across the Niagara Region, exploring the forces that shape our shared environment and lived experiences.

Current invites audiences to reflect on the many currents flowing through Niagara—its waterways, histories, industries, and evolving cultural landscape. Through a wide variety of media and artistic approaches, participating artists consider both the physical and metaphorical currents that influence how we live, move, and connect today.

“The Niagara Region is shaped by currents — of water, of industry, of migration, and of culture,” says Chelsea Ryan, Culture Coordinator, Public Art. “This exhibition encourages artists to reflect on both the physical flows that define this place and the contemporary currents — social, political, emotional, and technological — that shape our shared experience.”

Visitors can explore works that engage with themes such as environmental systems, movement and migration, infrastructure and landscape, as well as the emotional and cultural forces shaping our present moment.

Drop in during open hours to experience this dynamic exhibition and celebrate the creativity of Niagara’s artistic community as part of Culture Days. Admission is free and all are welcome.
