À propos
Located next to Knox Presbyterian Church Sixteen, the cemetery contains the grave markers of some of the earliest settlers to the area. Visitors will visit the graves of some of the early inhabitants of Proudfoot’s Hollow including Sarah McKay (1874-1880); Mary Proudfoot (1801-1846); and, Mary Triller (1804-1884).
The tour will also provide an overview of the range of grave makers that have been used over time, from standard upright headstones to subtle flat headstones to more elaborate and grandiose obelisk markers. The size, material and design of the grave markers reflect the era in which they were produced and the relative wealth and personal preferences of the people for whom they were made.
