"Our Stories Ourselves Community Hub" (Winner of the Judy Robertson Community Engagement Award).

Led by community-based performer and choreographer Lance Lim of the Pigeon Den Art Collective, the community hub “Our Voices, Ourselves” will bring together several artists and organizations for a three-week long series of artist-led workshops. The hub events will be centered in the Strathcona neighborhood in Vancouver with activities at the Raycam Co-operative Centre and Vancouver Public Library (local Strathcona DTES branch).

“Our Voices, Ourselves,” is about enabling ourselves through our art and our stories and to engage, communicate, and express ourselves through artist-led workshops in our own community.

A three-week series of arts, culture, and community events in the Strathcona neighborhood of Vancouver for BC Culture Days (September 22 - October 15, 2023).

Here are a summary of activities during our kick off event

Saturday, September 23rd with:

11:30 am Doors open

"Our Stories, Ourselves Kickoff Party" - September 23rd 12 pm - 5 pm (Raycam gymnasium):

12 pm - Opening Award Ceremony & Land Acknowledgement -

12:00pm to 12:30pm: Ceremony

12:30 pm to 12:40pm: Fluffy and Friends Lion Dance

12:40 pm to 12:50 pm: ABADA Capoeira Demonstration

12:50 pm to 1:00 pm All Bodies Dance Performance

1:00pm to 2:00pm: All Bodies Workshop at Gymnasium

1:00 to 2:00pm: Fallen Leaves Workshop (Media Lab Room)

2:00 pm to 3 pm: Robyn Froese Band
