About

Bangla Rhythms is a presentation of Bangla songs and recitation, which will be delivered by Bangladeshi-origin cultural enthusiasts and practitioners, led by Shagufa Anwar, a resident of Oakville.

The primary objective of the presentation is to offer a glimpse of the rich Bengali heritage and culture of Bangladesh to the Canadian audience. The performance will showcase a blend of Bangla songs of different varieties, including patriotic songs, popular folk and contemporary songs, as well as songs composed by legendary poets & composers Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Songs will be performed in solo, duet, and chorus, and these will be interspersed with recitations from Bangla Poems. All songs will be played with a Harmonium, a keyboard-based free-reed musical instrument.
