Bayanihan Filipino Arts and Culture Club

Discover the Vibrant Spirit of Filipino Heritage with Us!

We're a dynamic, registered non-profit organization based in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, driven by passionate volunteer artists, performers, and enthusiasts. Our mission? To celebrate and share the rich and vibrant Filipino heritage, culture, and arts with our community and beyond.

Why "Bayanihan"?

The Bayanihan Filipino Arts and Culture Club, founded by Jhonnette Derkatch and AnnaLissa Ubongen in January 2024, draws its name from the Filipino tradition of bayanihan. In Filipino culture, bayanihan represents the spirit of communal unity and cooperation, where neighbors come together to help move a house to a new location. We embody this spirit by uniting individuals through our shared love for Filipino arts and culture.

Our Ensembles:

🎢 Bayanihan Band

πŸ’ƒ Bayanihan Dance Troupe

🎀 Bayanihan Filipino Choir

Since our inception, these talented groups have brought the essence of Filipino culture to life through a variety of events. We're also thrilled to have successfully hosted a 6-day class on Filipino culture in Springside, spreading the joy and beauty of our traditions.

Our Mission:To shine a spotlight on the rich and vibrant Filipino heritage, culture, and arts by:

Promoting Awareness: Educating the community about Filipino history, traditions, and values.

Showcasing Talent: Providing a platform for Filipino artists, musicians, performers and enthusiasts to share their work.

Building Community: Creating a space for people to come together and celebrate Filipino culture.

Preserving Traditions: Ensuring that the unique aspects of Filipino heritage are passed down to future generations.
