About

Join us for a mesmerizing performance of Bharatanatyam, one of India’s oldest and most revered classical dance forms. Originating in the temples of Tamil Nadu, Bharatanatyam blends expressive storytelling, intricate footwork, and graceful gestures to bring ancient myths and spiritual themes to life.

Performed in vibrant traditional attire and accompanied by classical Carnatic music, this dance is a celebration of rhythm, emotion, and devotion. More than just a performance, Bharatanatyam is a living tradition that connects art with spirituality and culture.

Experience the beauty, depth, and heritage of this sacred dance during Culture Days.

The Abhinaya School of Dance is dedicated to preserving and advancing the rich tradition of classical Southern Indian dance. It offers comprehensive training that emphasizes technical rigor, expressive storytelling, and spiritual depth. The curriculum spans foundational techniques, intricate footwork, and expressive hand gestures (mudras), while also fostering a deep understanding of the dance's cultural and historical context.

Curatorial practice is integral to the school’s mission, with thoughtfully selected performances, workshops, and events that reflect both the classical roots and contemporary relevance of Bharatanatyam. Recitals, festivals, and lecture-demonstrations showcase the dance's beauty and its ability to communicate complex narratives and emotions. The school is committed to fostering a supportive community of dancers, encouraging collaboration, creativity, and respect for this ancient art form. By blending traditional pedagogy with modern insights, Bharatanatyam remains vibrant, accessible, and meaningful to new generations of dancers and audiences alike.
