About

Experience a blend of history and music representing Steveston’s cultural mosaic as part of the nation-wide Culture Days celebrations, on September 24. Be led on a one-hour journey throughout the site where you will hear music from around the world. The tour will reveal the stories behind some of the people who lived and worked at Britannia Shipyards, as well as music connected to their heritage.

As you tour through the historic buildings you will hear the violin, the Japanese Tsugaru shamisen, and the Chinese erhu. The history and music represents the experience of the people who lived and worked in these buildings, persevering through homesickness, hard work, and exhaustion, but always with a core of resiliency, adaptation, and determination.

The City of Richmond is fully committed to operating safely and working to ensure all COVID-19 Provincial health Orders and recommendations are followed.
