About

An evening full of visual surprises awaits all those who attend this unique event.

45 Artists, working in three groups, have collaborated to create 15 paintings in our Exquisite Corpse Painting Project. Each Artist paints one of three segments on the canvas without ever seeing more than a one inch strip of the other two Artists work. The public and the Artists will see the paintings revealed for the very first time at our Unveiling Evening Gala. The Artists will also find out who their collaborators were. Awards will be presented to the top three paintings as determined by our panel of judges. There will be cocktails, hors d’ouvres, a brief “live auction” with a surprising twist, music and fashion. Yes, we’d like to see everyone dressed in unusual, decadent, wild and ‘divine’ outfits. Paint your faces, wear something daring or outlandish. Pull out that fancy hat, wild tie, well worn suit or gown. Doll yourselves up. Dapper is always good. Be “Exquisite”. Pose for the cameras and let the clutch out. It’s that sort of evening. Perhaps the “pre-game show” for Halloween?

This is a Free or PWYM event. Pay What You May.

Oceanside Community Culture Days

The Oceanside Community Culture Days Group consists of the City of Parksville, The McMillan Arts Centre also known as, the M.A.C. and the Oceanside Community Arts Council. The M.A.C. is the jewel in the Oceanside Community Arts Council’s crown. It embodies everything that a true community arts centre should be. Year round the M.A.C. is the bustling centre for all things Arts & Culture in our Oceanside community as well as a destination “must visit” for thousands of tourists that flock to Parksville in the warm Summer season. There are 3 Galleries located inside the M.A.C. along with a Digital Gallery and a fabulous Gift Shop that is filled with unique works by local Artists & Artisans. There are Exhibitions in the Galleries throughout the year, an ongoing series of Arts & Craft Classes, Poetry Readings, Music Classes, Dance Groups, Chorale Groups, and more. It’s all happening at the M.A.C. Activities for everyone from children to our seniors are plentiful and diverse.
