About

Clay Creations: Seed Bomb Workshop for Young Land Stewards

Date: September 21

Time: 1:00 - 3:00 PM

In this free, hands-on workshop led by local ceramic artist Amy Snider, young people aged 8-12 will have the opportunity to delve into the rich geological history of Regina and develop a physical connection to the land by creating seed bombs from local clay and flower seeds.

Inspired by KC Adam's exhibition owîceskoyakinikewak, kids will learn about the geology of Regina and how to identify, dig, process, and shape local clay. They will also connect to the powerful ideas of nurturing and care Adam's presents in her exhibition by fashioning seed bombs, which can be thrown to spread native flowering plants on otherwise barren land, promoting growth and stewardship of the land.

This workshop presented in partnership with the George Ledingham Herbarium aims to spark creativity and curiosity in young minds while promoting a positive and constructive way to interact with nature.

Art Gallery of Regina

Located on Treaty 4 Territory, the Art Gallery of Regina (formerly The Rosemont Art Gallery) shares the artwork and experiences of artists living in Saskatchewan, allowing viewers to recognize themselves and gain powerful insights into other people's stories. Founded in the early 1970s as a community-focused satellite of a larger art gallery, the AGR continues to support historically excluded artists and artistic disciplines and create ways for people to discover the importance of art in our lives.

The AGR is a tenant in the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.
