About
Oakville is a mosaic of cultures, each bringing its own histories, stories, and brilliance. Mosaic Mic is an open mic event designed to celebrate this richness through the power of words. Much like a potluck, participants will be asked to bring a treasured piece of poetry or prose from their heritage—whether it’s the wisdom of Rumi, the storytelling of Tagore, or the lyrical beauty of Neruda. Alongside the original text, participants will be asked to share a translation in English, offering the audience a chance to uncover voices beyond the familiar, that have shaped literature across the world. This event will not be about just reading — it will be a space for cultures to intertwine, and for audiences to engage with literary greats beyond the familiar. With Oakville’s growing diverse community, Mosaic Mic will be an unforgettable evening where the world’s literary voices meet, and where we celebrate the stories that make us who we are.
