Come meet the fresh faces of interdisciplinary performance and collaborative creation in the Waterloo Region through the Arts Exchange!

This newest initiative from MT Space was established in 2020 to help grow and recognize culturally diverse emerging artists from visual minorities through commission and by offering a safe space for unexpected intersections.

Specifically, the Arts Exchange is a paid exchange for artists of all disciplines who are based in Waterloo Region and identify as IBPOC. The purpose of the program is to foster greater connections amongst the artists in the region; to highlight and amplify IBPOC voices, stories and work; to nurture the development of new, multi-disciplined, multicultural collaboration; to provide a place for creative play, idea exchange and experimentation without the pressures of creating a final product within short time restrictions; and to foster a greater sense of community during these challenging times.

Join us for two online 45-minute presentation dates on October 22nd and 23rd, showcasing bite-sized sharings from different collaborative teams involved in the inaugural cohort of The Arts Exchange!

MT Space is an international theatre company based in the Waterloo Region, devoted to developing inter-cultural forms and practices in performance, producing, touring and presenting artistic work that reflects Canada’s cultural diversity.

Since 2004, our company has been an unexpected intersection, as a conduit for internationally trained immigrants and newcomer professionals across all disciplines, consistently challenging the definition of theatre.

MT Space develops regional, national, and international artistic initiatives to generate necessary and urgent conversations that help expand perspectives and representation in storytelling on the Canadian stage to affect real, positive change.
