About

Located in the beautiful village of Delta, St. Paul's Anglican is the oldest church in the Diocese of Ontario. Built in 1811, it has been a vital part of the village for over 200 years. While no longer an active church, a community committee in partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Ontario, the Ontario Heritage Trust, and the Township of Rideau Lakes have come together to transform the former church hall into a community hub that will provide a focal point for information, services, and most of all a drop-in centre for the community at large. The church, with it's nearly perfect acoustics, is already available as a performance venue for musical or performance artists.

When you visit us, you can learn about what made St. Paul's such a valuable heritage asset both physically and culturally. More importantly, we would like your input into the conversation about the needs of rural communities and how facilities like St. Paul's can contribute to providing a better community for all. For the art enthusiasts, thanks to a very generous donation from one of our supporters, we have a selection of original oil paintings available for purchase. Coffee, tea, and cookies will be available at no charge.

Admission is free.

Organizer

St. Paul's Anglican Community Centre Committee

St. Paul’s history of shared use between multiple congregations tells the story of Delta’s early religious history. Established in 1811 and continuously operated for 200 years, the church played an important part in the history and development of the village up until its closure in 2012.

In November of 2015, a committee comprised of citizens in the village and former members of the congregation met to talk about the needs of the community and potential plans for the empty and idle church. In 2016 they presented the proposed community centre concept to the Diocesan Synod Council, who gave their support to the project.

Our mission is simple: Helping to provide a better community for all.
