About
#Carefree (2016) is a project that considers the force of language in shaping our understanding of the world. Performers enact movements in response to a collage of video and gifs achieved through the hashtags #carefreeblackgirl and #carefreeblackboy. Their activation explores how self-affirmation is embodied despite the oppressive conditions of dispossession and the reality of state-sanctioned violence in Black subjects.
