About
Join Windsor based artists Jodi Green and Lisa Sylvestre at ArtSpeak gallery between September 16 and 21 for a weeklong exploration of slow and sustainable textile based art practices. The gallery has free admission.
Since January 1st, 2024, the artists have been engaged in a daily stitch project. Recording the
passage of a day, every day is a personal practice that offers time for contemplative and slow
work. Though the work of each day is small, the cumulative visual impact of recorded days is
striking. We will discuss our individual approaches to this project as we invite you to join us in
this practice.
Fundamental to our work as artists is a commitment to consuming fewer resources. As textile
production is often fraught with harmful practices, our focus is multi-pronged:
• to use already existing textiles in our practices,
• to create better made and therefore longer lasting pieces, and
• teach mending skills so that everyone can extend the life of their own textile pieces.

Lisa Sylvestre & Jodi Green
Lisa Sylvestre is a Windsor/Detroit based artist. An academic background in the social sciences, community-learned quilting, formal training in tailoring and in photography all contribute to her work as a multi-media artist, with a primary focus on textiles. Lisa, operating under asil, runs a textile + a dye studio which holds classes and hosts a bi-monthly community sewing circle, and curates the asil Gallery and Shop which brings together talented local artists.
Levigator Press is owned and operated by artist Jodi Green. Levigator Press is a printmaking and book arts studio in the Walkerville neighbourhood of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We offer press rental, private instruction, and workshops in a number of print media as well as bookbinding, drawing, and fibre arts.
