About

In its new iteration in the Ford City neighbourhood, in partnership with Artcite Inc., the New Voices billboard presents eight different text-based installations by local artists from underrepresented communities between June 2026 and February 2027, including, but not limited to, emerging artists, newcomers, artists of colour, Indigenous artists, artists with disabilities, Francophone artists, and members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Coinciding with Ontario Culture Days, the billboard will feature the work of the fourth artist in this year’s program. As a free and accessible public art initiative, New Voices contributes to Ontario Culture Days’ goal of increasing public engagement with arts, culture, and heritage through meaningful community-based experiences.

If you're in the neighbourhood, keep an eye out for the billboard on the south-facing façade of Artcite Inc., located at 998 Drouillard Rd. Details about a public activation connected to the installation will be announced closer to the event date.

The New Voices program was originally launched by the Arts Council Windsor & Region in June 2021 on the exterior wall adjacent to ArtSpeak Gallery. Over a two-year period, the program successfully presented the work of more than ten local artists from underrepresented communities.

The Arts Council Windsor & Region gratefully acknowledges the support of the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation’s Community Impact Grant in bringing this new iteration of the New Voices program to life, as well as the support of its partner organization, Artcite Inc.
