About

If you’re looking for an art adventure, Vaughan has 12 public art stops to add to your plans!

The ARTonBOXES program launched through the Group of Seven REMIXED pilot in the spring of 2023, transforming 12 traffic signal boxes into extraordinary works of art that enhance the creative urban character of Vaughan’s neighbourhoods, beautify city streetscapes, and discourage “tagging” vandalism.

Vaughan secondary school visual art specialty students collaborated with the City to create original artwork for the pilot. The art designs, inspired by the spirit of iconic Group of Seven landscape paintings, were converted digitally into vinyl art wraps and installed on traffic signal box canvases city-wide.

The artworks can be viewed on the traffic signal boxes at the following locations:

Ward 1:

Major Mackenzie Drive and Keele Street – Maria Suzdaleva, The Calmest Hour

Melville Avenue and Springside Road – Hailey Shema, Joy

Ward 2:

Woodbridge Avenue and Clarence Street – Cailin Sadecka, Ethereality

Woodbridge Avenue and Islington Avenue – Alessandra Raso, The Hunt

Woodbridge Avenue and Kipling Avenue – Allyson Safran, Mountain Vast

Woodbridge Avenue and the Market Lane Shopping Centre – Kaitlyn Hsieh, Wilderness

Ward 3:

Chrislea Road and Northview Boulevard – Daniel Zhang, Muskoka Woods

Famous Avenue and Colossus Drive – Anna Ladizginsky, Twine

Ward 4:
