About

County Arts presents an inclusive, site-specific, participatory creative movement workshop with dance artist Allison Nichol Longtin.

Moving Bodies of Water refers to both the movement of the waters in Lake Ontario, as well as those waters within us, literally and metaphorically. Participants will come together within view of Lake Ontario to move in community. Together, participants will co-create a short original composition that could only have been made in that place, in that time, by those present.

Recognizing the proven healing and regulating powers of water, Allison regularly draws inspiration from the element of water. In this one-hour workshop, she will guide participants through a series of somatic exercises, accessible movement phrases, and structured improvisations inspired by water and its many qualities and ways of being and moving.

Participants are asked to wear footwear (preferably athletic shoes that have grip - no bare feet, please) and light layers appropriate for the weather. Optional - dress in blue and white clothing to fit our theme of water! Don't forget your water bottle.

Open to adults (ages 16+) and youth (ages 12+) who are accompanied by a participating adult.

Rain date: Sunday Sept 20, 5-6PM
