About

On Saturday October 8th, the Arts Council Windsor and Region (ACWR) will be hosting a free sound poetry workshop that will explore Windsor's unique sonic landscape.

During the workshop, participants will be given an introduction to sound poetry, including the work of some established sound poets, and will be invited to listen to a variety of sounds, including those that come from motor vehicles found daily on the streets of the city.

The results of the workshop will be displayed between Oct. 15th to Nov. 15th on the New Voices billboard located on the alleyway besides ArtSpeak gallery.

This event has been organized by ACWR staff and will be facilitated by Dr. Karl Jirgens.

Dr. Karl Jirgens is a Professor Emeritus with the University of Windsor, former English Department Head, and former Chair of the Creative Writing Program. Jirgens is also an 8th degree black belt in the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon Do, and was the editor/publisher of Rampike, an international journal of art, writing, and theory (1979-2016).
