À propos

"The Olive Pickers" is a tribute to community, agricultural workers, and heritage. The artwork depicts women harvesting olives in a grove, inspired by the artist's Italian roots and family ties to the Oakville area. Growing up in British Columbia, the artist's visits to her Italian relatives in the GTA were filled with stories of family traditions like the olive harvest, a communal activity where neighbors would come together. The women in the scene represent a collective spirit, their identities intentionally left fluid so the image resonates with diverse backgrounds and harvests. The use of rich greens in the background reflects abundance and prosperity, honoring the agricultural workers who contribute to Oakville’s lush landscape.

Building on the success of previous years, the Town of Oakville has once again invited a fresh cohort of talented artists to bring colour and creativity to the streets by showcasing their artwork on Traffic Signal Cabinet Boxes. This year, seven Traffic Signal Boxes across Oakville will feature striking designs, each offering a unique artistic interpretation of the community’s essence. Through this initiative, Oakville continues to foster public art that reflects its vibrant culture and encourages local pride.
