À propos
An online presentation by Halau Na Pohaku o Laka celebrating October as Cultural Heritage Month, and Hawaiian History Month. Ho'ike is hawaiian for "show" or presentation. This celebration, which we call a luau, launches our halau's participation in Lahui Kanaka (trans. Native Hawaiians), a proactive approach dealing with Covid 19 in collaboration with other Kumus in Hawaii. Our focus is celebration for good health to protect each other by knowing who we are, our responsibility and a call to action through hula. To know more, what it is and why and how? Watch the show.
Watch the premiere on October 16th at 7:30 pm on our Facebook page. Recording will be available after at the Party Replay at 9pm, which includes video clips from some of our friends in Hawaii doing our Lahui as well.

Halau Na Pohaku o Laka
Halau Na Pohaku o Laka is a Contemplative Hula School started in January 2020 by Ares Andres. We do not charge for the lessons but we accept applications for new haumanas, a title given for dance students. Hula to us is more of spirituality, learning about the culture through the dance and songs we learned. We perform to tell story and elicit change of hearts and minds among our audience to instill the spirit of Aloha in their consciousness, without saying any words or proselytizing. We let our smile, our dance and the beauty of the song transform people.
