Laugh Your Head Off and Support Mental Health!
What’s so funny about mental health? As far as Stand Up For Mental Health (SMH) is concerned – everything! The SMH Comedy Society delivers Stand Up For Mental Health counsellor, stand-up comic, and bipolar sufferer David Granirer’s award-winning program that teaches stand-up comedy to people with mental health issues as a way of building confidence and fighting public stigma. Our shows are hilarious, and they’re a great way to educate the public about what it means to have a mental health condition. And what better way to learn about such a serious subject than through comedy. So come laugh your head off as David and his alumni comics explore the lighter side of mental health!
We are funded by various sponsors without whom we couldn’t keep the program going. Your donations help support the program and are most appreciated!
Pre-registration requested. Limited chairs are available for our live show but we have lots of yoga mats and cushions for you to sit on! Or bring your own folding chair.

Stand Up For Mental Health is a program teaching stand up comedy to people with mental health issues as a way of building confidence and fighting public stigma.
We make a huge difference in the lives of our comics and also to the community by showing them a totally different perspective on mental health. Audiences at our shows see people on stage who are funny, likeable, friendly, and courageous, qualities you often don’t associate with someone who has mental health issues!
