À propos
Running Sunday, September 14 to Saturday, September 20, the festival includes nearly 40 events over six days at numerous venues around Vancouver. The main event will allow festival goers to spend a Saturday wandering UBC Robson Square, the space outside the Vancouver Art Gallery in downtown Vancouver, coffee in hand, celebrating local authors from across BC.
Attendees on Saturday can take part by talking with other festival goers about their most recent book club reading, exploring the exhibitors, listening to readings, attending panels, or taking part in workshops — all for free!
Taking inspiration from the diversity of Canadian authors, the events presented by Word Vancouver rise to the challenge to embrace the vibrancy of stories and experiences for all people.
The festival truly has something for everyone including a Children’s Tent, a guest curators room with Kayla MacInnis, Guest Indigenous Curator and Candie Tanaka, Guest LGBTQIA2S+ Curator, a Poetry Tent, a live podcast recording, online editing sessions, and dedicated Silent Writing Room for those who need a quiet space to process the state of the world through writing. Full details of Word Vancouver events can be found at wordvancouver.ca.
Word Vancouver is a festival driven by community and passion and would not be possible without the amazing festival volunteers - which are still being recruited for 2025!
Find time from September 14 to 20 to embrace, connect, collaborate, create, and celebrate the stories that make Vancouver and BC great at Word Vancouver.

Organisateur
Word Vancouver
The Vancouver Book and Magazine Fair Society incorporated in 1995 and produced the first “Word On The Street Vancouver” festival that year. Held at the then newly built Vancouver Public Library, it featured 60 exhibitors and attracted 18,000 festival-goers. In 2013, it rebranded to Word Vancouver.
Since that inaugural Festival, the Society has maintained consistent growth year after year, attracting increasing numbers of visitors from across British Columbia and Canada, making it a primary event in Western Canada’s literacy and literary community.
The aim of the organization is to foster the joy of the written word and inspire creativity by bringing together readers and writers from all backgrounds in an annual, inclusive and free literary arts festival, connecting local communities and celebrating literary arts through the collective experience. Word Vancouver aspires to embrace innovation, encourage discourse and provide a safe and accessible experience for all members of our richly diverse communities.
