À propos
My project is a series of large acrylic paintings and mixed media drawings that explore shadows. This is a theme I have been developing for over ten years. Because our mind seems to show preference for the human form, the eye is encouraged to look more closely at the intricate wonders of the natural world that can somehow be seen differently in the shadow. The natural forms, in turn, hint at mysteries of the spiritual realm. Questions also arise about what influence the environment has on us, and how the human presence has altered and affected the landscape. The paintings on display are rooted in the place that is Manitoba and are presented in four distinct seasons, but they speak also about a personal interior landscape. The title of the show is “Light in the Shadows”, referring to the discovery and enlightenment that comes from exploring the self, especially the shadow self, and one’s place in the world.
They will be displayed along 40ft of large well lit windows at Freshcut Downtown Florist shop at 190 Smith street on the corner of St. Mary Ave across from Millennium Library Park. Plenty of street parking and social distancing sidewalk viewing which will meet the COVID requirements is available.
