À propos

Join acclaimed authors Andrew F. Sullivan, Ai Jiang, and Emily A. Weedon for an unforgettable evening of spine-chilling stories and eerie insight. Hosted by co-creator and co-writer of horror fiction podcast, Parkdale Haunt, Emily Kellogg, this live reading and panel will delve into the dark art of horror writing—where nightmares take shape and the strange becomes familiar. Whether you're a die-hard horror fan or just horror-curious, this is one haunting you won’t want to miss.

The 45-minute conversation is followed by a 15-minute question and answer period. Check out the HPL catalogue to borrow the author's books before the event.

Andrew F. Sullivan is the author of The Marigold, a novel about a city eating itself, which was a finalist for the Aurora Awards, the Locus Awards, and the Hamilton Literary Awards, and named a Best Book of the Year by Esquire, The Verge, Book Riot and the Winnipeg Free Press. He cowrote The Handyman Method with Nick Cutter, a novel about home improvement gone wrong. Sullivan is also the author of the novel WASTE, called a “brutal, mesmeric debut” and one of the Best Books of the Year by the Globe & Mail, and the short story collection All We Want is Everything, a Globe & Mail Best Book of the Year and finalist for the ReLit Award. He lives in Hamilton, Ontario.

Ai Jiang is a Chinese-Canadian writer, Ignyte, Bram Stoker, and Nebula Award winner, and Hugo, Astounding, Locus, Aurora, and BFSA Award finalist from Changle, Fujian currently residing in Toronto, Ontario. Her work can be found in F&SF, The Dark, The Masters Review, among others. She is the recipient of Odyssey Workshop's 2022 Fresh Voices Scholarship and the author of A Palace Near the Wind, Linghun and I AM AI. Find her at www.aijiang.ca

Emily Weedon is the author of Hemo Sapiens and Autokrator and the host of the irreverent reading series Drunk Fiction. She is also a CSA award winning screenwriter and is semi-infamous for her part in The Bride of Chucky as Girl In Parking Lot. She blames hanging out in the ghost and vampire section of the library as a kid for her interest in dark fiction.

Emily Kellogg is an award-winning writer, editor, educator, voice actor, and book publishing professional currently based in Toronto, Ontario. Emily is the co-creator and co-writer of horror fiction podcast, Parkdale Haunt. Parkdale Haunt was called “one of the world’s most popular horror-fiction podcasts” by The Toronto Star, and was named “Best of 2020” by Apple Podcasts and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

This event is presented in partnership with gritLIT Readers & Writers Festival.

Epic Books will be selling copies of the book at the event.
