À propos
The Shuswap Family Expo will be a one of a kind, vibrant and engaging event held at the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds on September 28, that brings together families from our Shuswap community and beyond. With a focus on various aspects of preconception/ baby, child & teen and parent education and wellness, the event will include 3 expert guest speakers for parents, interactive exhibits and demonstrations with family focused exhibitors, a dedicated kid zone with bouncy castles, a demonstration area for different athletic and arts programs, local food truck vendors and more. We aim to empower families with valuable knowledge and resources to support their children's growth and development.
There is no other event like this in our amazing area and we cannot wait for this inaugural event that will become something that families look forward to each year!
We are thrilled to be in partnership with The Shuswap Family Centre and 100% of the proceeds will be going to them. Entry for the event will also be by donation for The Shuswap Family Centre.

The Shuswap Family Expo
This amazing event is being co -directed and hosted by two female business owners and Mom's that live in the Shuswap community, Dr. Taylor Bean and Missy Morrison Charko.
Dr. Taylor is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor and owner of TaylorMade Wellness in downtown Salmon Arm. In 2021, she moved with her two children and husband from Maple Ridge to a 115are farm in Tappen. Having grown up in Cranbrook BC, lived overseas in Dubai and Singapore, Salmon Arm is the community she and her family call home. As a child she grew up on a hobby farm, so she is quickly reliving her childhood memories by having chickens, meat birds, pigs, cats, sheep, to never owned before donkeys and a llama. What is missing is that horse! Raising her children on a farm was a vision they had for over 5 years and blessed this dream turned into a reality. The love of raising and owning animals is paired with her love for athletics. As a child, she had the opportunity to play a variety of sports, ski to riding horses. One sport she was quickly drawn to was basketball. Starting in grade 6 she played up until university. When she and her husband moved overseas, basketball was a way for her to meet new people and form new friendships. Basketball, to any other sport, is much more than a sport - athletics builds a community to teach athletes work ethic, drive and dedication which carries with them into adulthood. This expo was born out of her passion to highlight areas of sport, arts, agriculture to academics that can fuel and help shape our children for a successful future.
Missy is a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant and Founder of Say Yes to the Rest Pediatric Sleep Consulting. She helps exhausted parents, with private coaching and support, get their child sleeping soundly, so they can start to feel like themselves again and their children can get the sleep that they need for their growth and development! Missy is the mom of two young children and resides with her family in Blind Bay. A contributing editor for BC Parent News Magazine, she has been featured on Modern Mama, Mom.com and CBC Radio Vancouver, has been a guest on numerous health/wellness and parenting podcasts, and does seminars for BC Public Health and local family resource centers, to help parents lay healthy foundations for their child’s sleep. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council for the South Shuswap and the South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the International Association of Child Sleep Consultants (IACSC) and was a Guest Speaker at The Baby Show in Vancouver this past fall and upcoming Fall 2024. Missy holds a BFA (Syracuse University, NY) and is also a Dance Instructor and the Creative Director for FACES located in Tappen.
