À propos

In honour of National Forest Week, Culture Days and our City’s commitment to take action against litter, residents are invited to drop by any time between 3 pm and 6 pm to take part in the forest cleanup. There will be environmental themed cutouts for attendees to colour and write on and stick on. Attendees will also have the option to write on a piece of paper a bad environmental habit they want to get rid of to scrunch up and throw into the bin as a symbolic way of changing environmental behaviour and committing to preserving the park and environment.

City of Vaughan staff will be set up at the northwest entrance of the woodlot and will provide garbage bags and gloves.

Littering can be harmful to people, animals and the natural environment, and has many negative consequences on the community and everyone’s quality of life. Many items do not biodegrade and can be dangerous for pets and wildlife as they may eat or be injured by discarded items or leach toxins into the soils helping to grow plants and trees. Vaughan’s woodlots play an important role in providing habitat to biodiversity, sequestering carbon, and offering trails to residents.

City of Vaughan

With a population of more than 340,000 residents, Vaughan is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada, home to more than 217 ethnic or cultural origins with 113 different languages spoken. It is a vibrant, diverse, inclusive and equity-based community that recognizes and celebrates arts, culture and heritage.

We recognize that Vaughan is situated in the Territory and Treaty 13 lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee. The City of Vaughan is currently home to many First Nations, Métis and Inuit people today. As representatives of the people of the City of Vaughan, we are grateful to have the opportunity to work and live in this territory.
