À propos
MAWA is celebrating 40 years of visual art education, community building and peer support.
Everyone is invited to Reverberations, an exciting exhibition curated by Abigail Auld and Jenny Western, reflecting the history of MAWA’s Foundation Mentorship Program and its impact on Manitoba women and gender diverse artists.
Western was Auld’s mentor in 2019, and now they are collaborating. This kind of resonance is common at MAWA. Colleagues become friends, mentors and mentees become colleagues, and artists work together, share resources, and rejoice in each other’s success.
Reverberations features artwork by 11 artists who have participated in the Foundation Mentorship Program over the past four decades—one was a mentor in 1985 and one was a mentee in 2023. They represent the more than 400 artists who have benefited from this program.
Twenty extraordinary artworks by Francesca Carella Arfinengo, Jo-Anne Balcaen, Sarah Crawley, Aganetha Dyck, Lita Fontaine, Vi Houssin, Laura Lewis, AO Roberts, Mélanie Rocan, Leslie Supnet and Lisa Wood will be featured.
