Grab your kit and get to work producing your very own journal or sketchbook!

In this virtual workshop, we will go step by step creating a book using a sewing method. We will create our own unique book covers as well. These books can be used for drawing, writing, keepsakes, or photos - whatever you would like.

***Please note*** since we will be working with sharp objects, supervision is recommended for those 12 and under.

Your bookbinding kit will be available for pickup *in advance* of the virtual workshop, at City Hall (9th floor in front to Invest Barrie (see photo for reference). It will include all the tools required as well as some decorative options. It's up to you to use everything provided or you may refer to the "Junk List" which suggests everyday items you might find in your home, recycling, or craft bin.

Junk List:

> office paper, cardstock, watercolour, or mixed media

> cereal/cookie/cracker boxes, chipboard 2mm, or cardboard

> thread, yarn, twine

> napkin, fabric (linen, cotton)

> any additional crafting items: glitter (if you are brave), beading, ribbon, collage items

> glue (liquid school) or hot glue

Hello all!

I go by Lewis. I am a local artist, poet, and performer. I manifest creations on large canvases using beautiful acrylic palettes and mixed media. My mixed media artwork is an experience of poetry; one that begins to flourish in a colourful, bold, and incredibly layered design. My creations are a representation of my dreams and fantastical reality that exists within and around us. I pursue these visual windows through natural movement and by embracing these energies in order to generate portals into new worlds. The addition of texture makes my work come to life. The connection of hand to a structure allows us to feel something beyond what meets the eye.

I am also an advocate for poetry and art and therefore, I enjoy sharing creativity and hearing stories from others. These things inspire my poetry and make me happy to develop books and bookish accessories for others to gift to their loved ones.
