Jelica Mijanovic is a professional classical guitarist actively engaged as a concert artist and teacher at Mohawk College. Pursuing a Doctor of Music Arts degree at U of T, she is passionate about exploring diverse musical influences. Since arriving in St. Catharines as a new immigrant in January 2021, Jelica has showcased her talents in various events, including interactive concerts during Culture Days. Her upcoming third event in 2023 will delve into the historical impact of Arabic, Jewish, Roma, Indigenous, and African populations on guitar music. This interactive solo-guitar concert will offer participants a journey through different cultures, accompanied by folkloric music, scales, and techniques, connecting them to the guitar's rich and diverse heritage.
