À propos
The Canadian Latinx Theatre Artist Coalition (CALTAC) is thrilled to announce its third Coyuntura, a National Canadian Latinx Theatre Artists Gathering, which will take place for the first time in Toronto from September 27-29, 2024. This landmark event, organized in partnership with Aluna Theatre at RUTAS 2024, will be held at the renowned Factory Theatre.
Coyuntura serves as a dynamic platform dedicated to celebrating, connecting, and amplifying Latinx voices in the performing arts in Canada. This year’s gathering promises to be an inspiring convergence of talent, culture, and creativity, featuring a rich lineup of workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, while we share our traditional café con chisme, adding some tamales and guided by the theme West meets East: Intercambiando Saberes.
All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Freedom Theatre. The Freedom Theatre is a theatre and cultural centre in Jenin refugee camp, occupied Palestine. You can read more about them here https://thefreedomtheatre.org/
Highlights of Coyuntura 2024 include:
Interactive workshops designed to foster artistic growth and professional development on the playwriting and production sides.
Panel discussions addressing key issues facing the Latinx artistic community, such as representation, inclusion, equity and ideas on how to grow together as a community. Networking events aimed at building lasting connections and collaborations among artists, industry professionals, and cultural leaders
The Factory Theatre, known for its commitment to diverse and innovative programming, provides the perfect backdrop for this groundbreaking event. Attendees can expect a weekend filled with thought-provoking performances, engaging discussions, and a vibrant celebration of Latinx culture.

RUTAS is more than a festival. It is a commitment to building thriving communities.
Since 2012, the RUTAS International Festival of Performance has established itself as the only event of its kind in Canada. Through our mission of Connecting the Americas through the Arts, the festival brings to Toronto some of the most innovative artists representing the bountiful cultural diversity of our continent. With breathtaking presentations in theatre, dance, and performance, RUTAS creates a TransAmerican experience of impeccable quality and excellence for all. Downtown Toronto becomes the meeting place for audiences from across the GTA to be inspired, moved, and entertained by a gamut of rich artistic experiences.

Aluna Theatre
The artistic mission of Aluna Theatre is to embrace the myriad of voices, cultures, and stories of our population, which are transforming the landscape of Canadian theatre. In our plays, works in translation, and international co-creations, people are complex individuals who exist beyond the restrictions of cultural labels. We encourage new hybrids of theatre evolved from a rich collaboration of experiences, performance traditions and media by engaging both emerging and established theatre professionals.
