À propos

Museums of Burlington is partnering with the City of Burlington, the regional municipalities of the Town of Halton Hills, the Town of Milton, the Town of Oakville and Halton Region Heritage Services, to present a community art workshop and project. Harmony in Cultures is a collaborative ceramic mural project designed to celebrate cultural diversity and unity through art. The installation will feature a hand-shaped ceramic mural symbolizing creation, strength, protection, connection and community.

Join us for Harmony in Cultures, an interactive clay workshop at the Joseph Brant Museum, with artists, Shahrzad Amin, Yvette Garcia-Mier and Lauren Sinett, where we will create a beautiful collaborative ceramic installation celebrating cultural diversity and unity!

In this hands-on workshop, each participant will receive a slab of clay to trace their hand. After cutting out the hand shape, you will have the opportunity to decorate it with unique motifs, patterns, and designs that reflect your cultural heritage or personal values. You are encouraged to explore and incorporate traditional decorations, symbols, or themes that resonate with your identity, making each piece a personal expression. Various colored clays will be available to represent diverse identities, ensuring that each creation is as unique as the individual behind it.

Together, these unique hand-shaped pieces will be fired and glazed, then combined into a larger single hand installation — a symbol of connection and unity through art. Let's create something beautiful together!

Everyone is welcome to join us, no experience is necessary. All materials and tools are provided.

*Please note: Space is limited to 60 participants, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative art project!
