11:00 a.m. – Conservators & Curators: A Conversation with PAMA and Toronto Art Restoration Inc.
Ever wonder how can art last for future generations? PAMA Art Curator Sharona Adamowicz-Clements and Conservators Alicia Coutts and Emily Joyce (Toronto Art Restoration Inc) discuss the roles of curators and conservators in art preservation. What steps does a public art gallery take to safeguard valuable artworks and how can conservators, also known as “art doctors”, conduct repairs and ensure art can stand the test of time.
2:00 p.m. – Public Art in Practice: Meet the Artists of Brampton's Emancipation Park Memorial
Discover the power of art in the community. Join Astrosankofa Arts in a conversation with the Brampton-based artists whose work is part of the newly created Emancipation Memorial at Emancipation Park – opening September 2024. Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives
PAMA is an accessible, safe space for the diverse communities of the Region of Peel (Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga) to come together and celebrate arts and culture. We strive to be a place where you can see yourself reflected and actively contribute to building a “Community for Life”.
It’s a place to explore and learn about Peel's culture and heritage, as well as use conversation, questions and stories to help make new and fascinating connections to the surrounding community. PAMA offers a variety of workshops and programs for all ages, families, and adults. There is something for everyone.
Our buildings are our largest artifacts. The site is made of historic buildings: the Peel County Courthouse and Jail, the former Registry Office, and the Modernist Building.
