Join us for the inaugural collaboration between The Third Place and local band, Compost. Explore an immersive sculptural art installation and experience the rhythms of the band. Doors open at 6:00pm with live performances at 8:00 and 11:00pm.
Rooted Reflections explores mirroring that occurs in nature. Organic circuits reticulate and surround the viewer. Tenuous suspended textile forms simultaneously recall mycelium, vascular systems, roots, synapses and electrical impulses.
Compost is nutrient rich music for a healthy body and mind. It is the grit and grind of deep bass and decomposing blown up beats from which flowery keyboards blossom. The instrumental trio references 90’s beat makers, and European electronic music, cycling between movement and meditation.
Compost will be remounting Decomposed: a four movement suite they premiered at the 2024 Cluster: festival of new music + integrated arts. Minimalist beat music made by the trio of Fender Rhodes, bass and drums, Decomposed takes the listener through the phases of growth, decay, reconstitution and rebirth found on and under the forest floor. Inspired by the role of fungi in it all, Compost draws from genres far and wide, breaks them down to their core nutrients and recombines them into multifaceted, cyclical cells that slowly unravel to reveal new perspectives.

In sociology, “the third place” refers to a place to spend time that is neither home nor work. The third place is one where you can be a regular, catch up, create, and find space to be.
As three sisters who lived away from our hometown of Winnipeg for some time, we returned in search of community and a place where we could do the things we loved together. And so “The Third Place” was born.
An art studio, workshop and event space, we hope this can become your third place too.
