Two Haitian immigrants - a middle-class intellectual and a peasant - clash, banter, and ultimately unite in a New York City basement apartment in the 1980s, fighting for dignity in a world determined to crush their American dreams.

Abigail Whitney, an internationally acclaimed, award-winning theatre and film director, is a rising star in the Canadian arts scene. Recognized as a 'Game Changer' on the cover of Canadian Ark Magazine's 002 "The Reset" Issue for her "innovative and fearless force, changing Canadian arts as we know it," Abigail has been featured in UofT's The Varsity, UofT News, ByBlacks, CBC's "q", CBC's OurToronto, Eboss Canada, and Broadway World. The South Carolina Voyager called her a "Rising Star," and she was recognized as one of "8 Black Artists to Support this Juneteenth" by New York's Gritty Vibes Studios.

Abigail is making her directorial debut with the live theatrical performance of "The Noose," a Haitian classic written by Frankétienne and translated by Dr. Asselin Charles. Abigail also produced this work. The Canadian premiere, starring actors Edmond Clark and Louco St. Fleur, will take place this October 17th-26th for 6 performances only at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 12 Alexander St, Toronto, ON, as part of the Next Stage Festival. Ontario Culture Days

The Ontario Culture Days Festival is an annual celebration of arts, culture and heritage taking place each fall across the province. Each year, we work with organizers of all disciplines to produce this province-wide festival. Organizers host programs throughout Ontario and invite the public to participate for free.

Ontario Culture Days lives at the local level. We support organizers from the smallest hamlets to the largest cities, while coordinating with other national and provincial Culture Days partners. We support the success of our sector colleagues through resources and network development, while highlighting the breadth and heterogeneity of Ontario’s arts and culture to the wider public.
