Bring the family down to the Porcupine Plain & District Museum for a fun, hands-on butter-making experience! Each participant will decorate their own container, learn how to make their own butter at home, and take home a small sample to enjoy!

If weather permits, we will gather in the Museum's backyard and will host old time games and races once everyone is done making butter; if inclement weather, we will gather inside the Museum. The Museum will also be open to viewing during the workshop.

*Registration is not required but is recommended so we know how many containers to supply.

Porcupine Plain & District Museum

The Porcupine Plain & District Museum is a designated Heritage Site that houses thousands of articles open to the public to view. It provides an excellent opportunity for all to see the diverse cultures and the heritage of our area. With antique tools and machinery, collectible dishes, traditional clothing, genuine lace pillow collection, and a bird display showcasing hundreds of birds from the Area, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The main building offers displays of photos, uniforms, and accessories pertaining to the soldiers who settled in our area. Through the Soldier Settlement outbuildings in the back yard – which include authentic log house, church, and schoolhouse, all furnished with articles of that time – visitors can become immersed in the settlers’ way of life.
