À propos
Mocean Dance is hosting a new community workshop series titled Moving in Mi'kma'ki. Led by Eskasoni First Nation dance artist Sarah Prosper, this workshop is open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels, with no previous dance experience required.
"Moving in Mi’kma’ki invites you, a mover, artist, dancer, and person who wants to learn about the land we live from in Mi’kma’ki. Through these classes the Mi’kmaq language, elder relation teachings, and Indigenous based movement will be an integral component of our welcoming learning space for ALL. Becoming and understanding all of our relations by acknowledging we each have an inherent responsibility to our future history. Piskwa’ ~ Come In."
- Sarah Prosper -
The workshops will be held at Halifax Dance, 1505 Barrington Street, on Friday, October 7th and 14th, from 10 - 11:30 am, with the option to stay from 11:30 am - 12:00pm for further discussion together.
Please note the main entrance is under construction, however wheelchair access is still possible through the parkade.

Mocean Dance
Mocean Dance is recognized nationally as a leading contemporary dance company from the Atlantic region. We provide fertile ground for artistic endeavours and potential in the field of dance. We share perspectives from our region and create opportunities to engage the local arts ecology and connect to the national performing arts community. Through our work, we aim to support Halifax as a hotspot for creation, research, experimentation, collaboration, and performance, as well as nurturing community vitality through education and outreach programs that celebrate dance as a vehicle for transformation. Our activities range from professional opportunities for local artists to community based classes for youth and senior citizens.
