À propos

"Mother O' Mine" a collective of literature, drama, and song weaving together a celebration of Mother. Created and performed by local theatre artists Jane Burpee and Nan Fewchuk. The performance will be followed by an interactive look into the lives of our pioneer mothers as attendees tour our pioneer museum dedicated to settlers from Eastern Europe who settled in the Cook's Creek area. Imagine the life of women in the early 1900s as they cared for their families, worked the farms, cooked, did needle work and participated in community and religious life. See their images and hear their stories. See the tools they had to work with and sample fresh baked bread and cinnamon buns from an outdoor oven.

Cook's Creek Heritage Museum Board

The Board of the Cook's Creek Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the early pioneers of this area. We maintain a Museum on the grounds of St Michael's Church in Cook's Creek that includes several buildings including two pioneer homes, a blacksmith shop, a pole barn, a small chapel, a candle house and main museum building. We provide guided tours throughout the summer season and by appointment.

Our pioneers were from the area of Galicia, which is comprised of present day south east Poland and south west Ukraine and were members of the Roman or Eastern Rite Catholic faith. Many of our displays reflect this cultural and religious aspect. As well, we host events that feature music and dance of that area as well as crafts such as Pisanki (Easter Egg Decorating) and informal Polish languages classes.
