An urban sketching opportunity, inviting the public to create on-location, plein-air sketches of three iconic Armstrong scenes.
Shauna provides helpful instructions for creating an on-location sketch in pencil, ink, or watercolour, at each sketch-stop.
Culture Sketch Tour includes:
-Introduction to the general concept of urban sketching
-Tips on how to capture the scene quickly while viewing the subject
-Suggestions for inexpensive and portable materials best suited to creating quick plein air art on-site wherever you are
-Ideas for urban sketching where you live and where you travel
ATTENDANCE IS FREE
The Culture Sketch Tour is best suited to Adult participation, but children under the direct supervision of their parent or adult guardian are welcome to join, and all content will be family-friendly.
EVENT IS WEATHER DEPENDENT:
Good Weather - we will be sketching outside - Please bring a lawn chair or stool, unless you prefer to sit on the grass, or stand, while sketching.
Inclement Weather - Shauna will email all registered participants by 9am on Oct 6th if the event is cancelled due to bad weather (using the email as provided in your registration from - see LINK below for access to the registration form).
All participants are encouraged to bring their own sketching materials, or watercolour paints, brushes, canvas, paper, etc.
A small quantity of free-to-use-on-site sketching supplies will be available.
SKETCH SCENES in downtown Armstrong include:
10am - Armstrong Post office
11am - Armstrong Pellet & railway
12pm - Armstrong “The Clove” Restaurant
