Join Desirée Patterson for an outdoor workshop to learn a little about the history of cyanotype printmaking and how to make “sun prints” using special coated fabric, UV light and foraged plant material to create silhouette images.

Desirée Patterson is a Vancouver based artist and environmental activist. Working through lens-based and traditional media, she creates community-engaged art projects that highlight our connection to nature with an aim to promote environmental stewardship and preservation.

Richmond’s Public Art Program sparks community participation in the building of our public spaces, offers access to ideas generated by contemporary art, encourages citizens to take pride in public cultural expression, and creates a forum to address a range of relevant themes and issues. Since the Program’s inception in 1997, the City has collected and commissioned over 300 works of public art with over 200 works currently on display around Richmond.

The Richmond Nature Park Society is a non-profit organization aimed at promoting natural history and natural history education in Richmond. The Society works in partnership with the City of Richmond Parks Services to provide natural history education opportunities that encourage residents and visitors to learn about the environment and natural history of this community.
