St. Catharines Downtown Association & Artist Jana Simms-Bergsma
The ST. CATHARINES DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION encourages residents and visitors to "do more in the core". They provide resources for 500 member businesses in the Business Improvement Area (BIA), and work to improve and beautify the St. Catharines city centre and to spread the word about our vibrant and varied downtown.
JANA SIMMS-BERGSMA is a local artist who specializes in scenic painting. She paints scenery for the Shaw Festival and other local theatre companies and has taught workshops for all ages at Rodman Hall Art Centre. She received her BA in studio art from McMaster University and is currently focusing on a series of large paintings based on St. Catharines. In her personal work she enjoys integrating forms of drawing and printmaking. Jana has presented her work at the In the Soil festival and at STRUTT wearable art show.
