Discover Richmond’s storied past throughout the year and over the Culture Days weekend at Steveston’s historic sites. Try your hand at mending fishing nets at Britannia Shipyards, hop aboard the Steveston Tram and meet the friendly Conductor, wash clothes using a scrub board at London Heritage Farm, and draft a bank note with a fountain pen in the Bank Manager’s office at the Steveston Museum.
Other activities at Britannia Shipyards throughout the weekend include:
-carpentry demonstrations in the Shipyard
-mah jong in the Chinese Bunkhouse
-sewing in the Murakami House
-traditional kids games in the field
Saturday Sept 28:
11:00am: Join Richmond Food Security Society to learn about local and sustainable options for preparing, eating and using salmon. Learn about the importance of salmon to the multi-ethnic workforce that lived at Britannia Shipyards
2:00pm: Join Richmond Food Security Society to learn how to grow, save, clean and store away garden grown seeds for future seasons! Walk through and learn about the historic Murakami Garden where Asayo Murakami grew various types of flowers.
Sunday Sept 29:
12:00-4:00pm: Join the Richmond Carvers and view their amazing carved creations.
