À propos
During this concert, performed by Julia Seager-Scott (harp) and Alison Melville (recorders, flutes), music by Italian, Scottish and Irish composers will be performed on harp, wooden flutes and recorders.
If you’d been a music lover in Edinburgh in the early 1700s, you’d have heard traditional Scottish melodies, foreign compositions, and music that blended both these styles in fascinating ways. In music by Italian, Scottish and Irish composers, performed on harp, wooden flute and recorders, we explore the colourful and expressive blending of these musical styles. From the heartfelt traditional tunes of Scotland and Ireland, to sparkling dance tunes and sonatas by Vivaldi, McGibbon and Baillie, this program exudes musical fun and good cheer.
In addition, verbal ‘program notes,’ and a Q & A session will enable listeners to learn more about our music and instruments, and make for a well-connected experience.
Free tickets will be handed at 6PM in Room 101 on the day of the event. No advance registration required. All ages welcome.
